Bring the Power of Reading Straight to Your Community

The Education Station, powered by Xcel Energy, is a bookmobile that makes literacy fun, accessible and memorable for K–3 students across the Twin Cities.

From early readers to advanced chapter books, we bring the library experience directly to schools, camps and youth programs.

The Education Station is part of our continued commitment to educational equity, literacy, and community connections across Minnesota.

Frequently Asked Questions:

The Education Station serves communities across the Twin Cities metro area. We visit schools, nonprofit organizations, community centers, parks, libraries, and other youth-serving spaces. Due to high demand, availability is limited, and priority is given to organizations aligned with our community impact focus.

Requests are accepted seasonally through our online registration form. Scheduling opens one month prior to each semester and operates on a first-come, first-served basis:
  • ⦿ Fall semester requests open August 1
  • ⦿ Spring semester requests open December 1
  • ⦿ Summer requests open April 1

While we’d love to bring our full roster everywhere, most Education Station visits do not include players. However, Crunch or Prowl often join us to read aloud and engage with students during the visit.

We provide brand-new books ranging from early readers to chapter books, with selections that reflect a wide range of cultures, backgrounds, and authors. Titles are available in both English and Spanish to serve all young readers.

To ensure equitable access, the Education Station may visit a location once per academic semester. Priority is given to organizations that have not hosted the program in back-to-back semesters.

Each visit is designed for 60 to 100 students. If your group is smaller or larger, please reach out directly so we can explore options.

Thanks to the support of Xcel Energy and the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx, this program is offered at no cost to participating organizations.

A typical visit lasts 45–60 minutes, which includes read-aloud time, interactive engagement, and book selection on the Education Station rig.

Each student will receive a goodie bag and get to choose one book to take home. Before the visit, a confirmation email will be sent with details about the time, date, and logistics. If you have not received a confirmation, please contact us at:
